ootd

busy day today (despite feeling awful) so some fairly terrible pictures.

This morning I headed off to a professional workshop at what is basically the number one company in the world for the field I’d like to work in. It was a fairly casual event but I still thought it was important to make an effort, so I went for my H&M printed trousers and this cute sweater from ASOS. you can’t see but it has tattoo-style motifs on the elbow patches. The sweater is a little short so I have a grey vest poking out from under.

Then in the evening (after lying in bed dying for part of the afternoon), I went to a talk at the Southbank Women of the World festival. I went to see Gillian Anderson and Jennifer Nadel talk about their new book. Wanted mostly to feel cute so I gave the striped New Look shirt its second outing, teamed with black ripped jeans with fishnets underneath.

Both outfits (horribly) pictured with DMs and my Brave Soul coat.

ootd

Finally! A real ootd. Today I went to a filming of Child Genius in the morning and then just had lunch and a cute afternoon/evening with my girlfriend as she’s leaving tomorrow for a few days.

I’m working the whole rest of the week so it’ll be back to uniform until Friday!

Bought this shirt the other day from New Look and I feel really cute and cosy in it, which is great. The silly little scarf/snood is from Primark and the jeans are from H&M.

Close up on the shirt because stripes are love and stripes are life.

See you soon!

Blog

So… it’s been a while, huh? (She asks to the void.) Okay, yes, I lost touch with this blog. I won’t make excuses or tell you life got in the way. I started procrastinating in other ways, I suppose, and suddenly taking posting pictures of my outfits and talking about them to nobody in particular became a lot less interesting to me. But now, I see the error of my ways. I suppose largely because I now wear a uniform at least 5 days out of 7 and miss having the freedom to wear, let alone talk about, my own clothes. So, I’ve scrolled through my phone and found a selection of some of my favourite ootd pictures. I’ll present them without context, because it’s going to be long enough as it is. But here goes: the last two-ish years of my life in poor mirror selfies and pictures that are, ideally, supposed to showcase ONE particular item.

A few of my overall favourite items here are the white rose shirt in the top right hand corner (from H&M, of course), the geo print trousers on the second row (from… H&M) and the black and white check trousers (not from H&M! From Primark!!)

I’m going to try and get back at this for real, I truly am. So, see you soon… hopefully.

December 11th, 2014 – another new purchase.

Blog, ootd

I made a couple of new purchases today, actually. (Remember when I said I was stopping? Ha!) But, as one of those purchase was just a pair of ordinary jeans – my beloved blue jeans are finally ripped to the point I can no longer wear them and I’m heartbroken – and another was a pair of leggings, I didn’t think they were really worth writing about. I know I wrote about a plain green t-shirt the other day but apparently I’ve changed the rules.

Anyway, today I bought these leopard print faux fur boot cuffs and I am in love. I saw them the other day but thought it was probably a bit silly to buy them, but when I had to venture into H&M again today I couldn’t resist. They are so cute and they team so perfectly with my Docs!

I decided to wear them out today after I bought them. Just onto campus but I thought it was far enough to test out how comfortable I feel wearing them in public and also how warm they are. Successful on both fronts! They are super cosy and warm and also I love the way they look so didn’t feel self conscious at all.

I am in love and I am tacky fabulous.

December 7th, 2014 – a bunch of new things!

ootd

I say “a bunch” but it’s really only two. Three, if you include the Roxy sweater I just posted about.

After I finished work yesterday I decided to look around some shops for a little while and grab something to eat, rather than coming straight home. I should know this is a bad idea because I will always, without fail, spend money. But I found this really cute sweater on sale in H&M, and I also bought a green tshirt. I’ve been saying for a while that I don’t really have enough tops, although what I really mean is that I don’t have enough shirts without print on them (I have a lot of band shirts but I don’t always want to wear band shirts?)

The sweater is super cute and I’m in love with it. However, it’s so super big and long but not quite long enough that I could actually wear it as a dress. I almost wish I’d gotten the bigger size so that I could, but I’m happy with it as a sweater.

These pictures are kinda dark so you can’t see the colours amazingly, so I also have a kinda crappy webcam picture. As you can see in the picture, it’s almost long enough to wear as a dress (the first picture I’m wearing it with just tights) but if I want to move at all I need something under it…

Snapshot_20141208My other purchase was this green tee which is not super interesting really, it’s just a tshirt but I’m mentioning it really because I would never have even thought of buying something green a few months ago and I think the fact that I picked up this colour rather than black or grey says a lot about my journey with clothes…

That’s all for now (and I’d love to say all I’m buying for now but maybe not…)

October 28th, November 4th

ootd

Okay… some outfits are just too boring to be given their own posts. Here are two of those. I’m documenting them as part of my reminder to myself that it’s okay to be boring sometimes, as long as I don’t make too much of a habit of it!

Here’s the first. October 28th. This cardigan is actually forest green but has decided not to appear that way. These are the jeans I’ve mentioned before, the ones I hate (they’re from New Look and there’s nothing wrong with the jeans themselves I just don’t like the way they fit me). I’m still searching for a suitable alternative so that I can either customise these in some way or give them away. Jurassic Park shirt was £3 from Primark and I love it even though it does have to stretch across my boobs a little more than either of us would like.

2nd is from November 4th (and, I admit, November 5th too). I’ve been looking for some cords for a really long time but I could never really find them anywhere. This picture isn’t great because it looks like they don’t fit me on the crotch but they actually do… oops. Anyway, I’ve been looking for cords for a while and I walked in a sale in Gap the other day and found these. Turns out they were even cheaper than I expected too, with the tag reading £19.99 but them actually coming in at £11.99. Score. Shirt is from H&M basics and was about £5 I think. The absolute simplest, blandest outfit of all time but really comfortable and I felt really cute. Especially when it was all teamed with my gold docs and my go-to scarf.
