My body image issues and me

Hey everyone! I wrote this, about body image and trying to apply body positivity to myself while also attempting to find a place for myself in the world of ootd bloggers. If you’d like to read it, that would be great. Please keep in mind that this is a very personal post so, as always, kindness is appreciated!

CN – talk of internalised fatphobia, body and self-confidence issues as well as other generalised anxiety issues.

I want to start by saying that this is entirely based on my own personal experiences, and any and all negativity here is based purely on my own body and my own image. It is so important to me to ensure that I am not speaking negatively about anyone else’s body or self-expression. If any part of this comes across otherwise, I want to know and I want to fix this.

I know I’m not alone when I say that I’ve struggled with my body image, one way or another, for most of my life. I spent most of my teenage years acutely aware that I was bigger than most of my friends and feeling, regardless of whether or not it was actually true, that I was on some level being judged for…

Finally! A real ootd. Today I went to a filming of Child Genius in the morning and then just had lunch and a cute afternoon/evening with my girlfriend as she’s leaving tomorrow for a few days.

I’m working the whole rest of the week so it’ll be back to uniform until Friday!

Bought this shirt the other day from New Look and I feel really cute and cosy in it, which is great. The silly little scarf/snood is from Primark and the jeans are from H&M.

Close up on the shirt because stripes are love and stripes are life.

See you soon!

halloween!! happiest of all hallows eves to you all! halloween is my absolute favourite holiday but sadly I had to be at work today. my dress code at work is simply black + white so I knew I could work with it.

t-shirt: primark
jeans: bought from eBay about 3 years ago (this was the first time I ever wore them out in public!)
shoes: h&m
cardigan: gap (a christmas present in 2011 and still one of my favourite items)

go forth and spook!

today was even less interesting than usual, really (especially because all I’ve done today was attend a two hour lecture, so I was only dressed for a grand total of about three hours – oops!) however, I’m trying to make more of an effort so rather than just throw on the jeans I hate but can’t throw away because they’re my only pair, I decided to wear my pencil skirt! this is only my second time wearing the skirt and I really love it. I think I need to invest in more because I feel like they’re going to be a really great way for me to inject something new into my wardrobe without feeling too self conscious or breaking the bank!

pencil skirt – H&M basics, £7.99
shirt – H&M, £7.99
‘lady fucking gaga’ t-shirt – bought at the artRAVE, £25
all teamed, of course, with my gold docs!

I basically just wanted to be very colourful and fun for artRAVE and dress in a way that I wouldn’t usually, but I’m a very self-conscious human and so I wanted to dress in a way that wasn’t too outrageous. I thought this was good enough.

and hey, because I’m a poor student… this whole outfit was crazy cheap!

dungarees – primark, £3
cropped v-neck – primark, £6
tights from primark, you can’t really see the socks but they’re rainbow Snoopy socks(!!!) and they were from poundland. The docs I’ve posted about before.

cheap, brightly coloured, FUN artRAVE. nothing too eccentric but a lot of colours (and also incredibly comfortable). I also did a lot of blue/turquoise and glitter in my make-up, adding to the whole sense of… not what I’d usually wear but not too out there.
